Italiano is a family owned Italian restaurant that was founded in 1989 by Angelo Ottobre. Today the restaurant is run by his son Marsel and his friends. After several years on, an update and revitalising facelift was needed. We were commissioned to update the visual identity as well as brand building supportive amendments in the interior.
Our concept is based on vintage signage and logos from the 50s and 60s in Italy, where typography and graphic elements were adapted and stretched to maximise the impact on any given space. The wonky type treatments paired with a functional and modernistic overall aesthetic resulted in a unique and personal visual identity. To support the communication and add more personality we added illustrations of common italian situations set in a style that resembles old engravings.
