Djurgårdsbrunn

Situated by the canal, surrounded by the century-old trees on Djurgården lies Djurgårdsbrunn — a historic site with roots dating back to the 1600s. Over the centuries, it has served as a destination for recreation and wellbeing. Today, Djurgårdsbrunn has been revived as a restaurant and café that thrives through all seasons, weekdays, and weekends — where Djurgården’s natural beauty and rich cultural heritage take center stage.

The visual identity seeks to merge the site’s timeless atmosphere with a modern, joyful expression. The logotype draws inspiration from the area’s historic signage, while the illustrations contribute with a lighthearted, playful and unexpected touch. The color palette combines a soft, neutral cream tone with a distinct dusty green characteristic of the area, complemented by a warm red accent that adds energy and contrast.

The decorative illustrations are inspired by lighthearted, playful and satirical drawings from the 1960s, designed to contrast the traditional setting at Djurgårdsbrunn with a warm, modern and unexpected touch.

The logotype pays homage to the site’s history, reinterpreting a former sign. In celebrating the cultural heritage of the place, we refined existing typographic elements to create something both timeless and modern. Each letter has been carefully designed to express a sense of craftsmanship while still being optimized for digital use.

The typography features a decorative script that exudes strong character, complemented by a clean-lined sans serif typeface in a modern composition, for an expression that reflects the present day.
